Career
Giles began working with a friend to launch his brand “Doran Deacon” in 1992. But the same year, he moved to Paris and began working for Jean-Charles, from whom he learned how to commercially leverage the brand.
He began freelancing after returning to London in 1994. After his friend Katie Grand suggested him, he soon became the head designer of Italian leather goods brand Bottega Veneta.
He worked on it for three years. Giles launched his first collection under the BV brand in 2000, which caught the attention of the Gucci company, which acquired Bottega Veneta in 2001.
Giles’ contract was not renewed by Bottega Veneta’s new management, but he was hired by Gucci creative director Tom Ford. He returned to London after working for a while because he became ill due to an infection.
