What was once just a meme is now much more than that. Gordon Ramsay is turning his iconic ‘Idiot Sandwich’ line into a reality TV show that will begin filming this year.
A famous chef and restaurateur, Ramsay is perhaps best known for his legendary tantrums. From demanding lamb gravy to hurling countless pots and pans across kitchens around the world, he has made a living out of a larger-than-life persona with a nib smaller than a grain of rice.
Although arguably his most iconic line doesn’t actually come from one of his own shows. Rather, his now immortal ‘Idiot Sandwhich’ quote came from a skit on James Corden’s Late Late Show. However, it has taken on a life of its own as one of the most viral audio clips on social media.
Making the most of his fame, Ramsay has now announced an Idiot Sandwich TV show is in the works.
Set to film in Las Vegas this November for Fox, Ramsay will host Idiot Sandwich as the ‘ultimate’ sandwich making competition.
Contestants will battle to create the most ‘impressive’ sandwich in an attempt to win a cash prize, a bit of fame and of course, the privilege of having their masterpiece crowned as the Goofy Sandwich actually by Gordon Ramsay.
As it turns out, absolutely anyone can apply for the show, as Ramsay shared an application form on social media that allows budding sandwich artists to put their name in the hat. “All culinary skill levels will be considered,” it states.
Aspiring guys just need to be over 18, live in or near Nevada, and be available to film for three days in November. Creators must also share the idea of their specific creation along with the name of It.
It’s currently unknown when Idiot Sandwich will premiere, but since filming is only set for later this year, it’s safe to expect the film to premiere in early 2023.
We’ll be sure to update you here with any further information about this historic meme show as new details become available.
