Not only does Gordon Ramsay have a background in yachting, but he also compares his experience to Below Deck.
Gordon Ramsay is a world-famous chef with dozens of restaurants around the world, some of which even have Michelin stars. On top of that, he’s also a TV celebrity known for starring in hit cooking shows like Hell’s Kitchen and Kitchen Nightmares.
He wasn’t always the successful tycoon he is now. Gordon has been vocal about his difficult upbringing and working extremely hard to get everything he has today.
Although it was assumed that his work growing up always focused on cooking in the kitchen in England, there is one strange cooking job he just revealed that fans weren’t expecting.
Does Gordon Ramsay work on Below Deck?
On October 23, Gordon was a guest on the YouTube show High Performance.
In this segment, he revealed that he worked as a personal chef for the late Reg Grundy on a yacht for 12 months. The work is what Gordon calls “rough below deck.”
Not only did he get to cook for Reg and develop his culinary skills, but being on the boat also allowed him to travel around the world and be exposed to different cultures.
“It’s a tax-free salary, a great cabin, a beautiful life. I did three tank dives a day, scuba diving,” Gordon recalls.
If he hadn’t become the TV character we all know and love now, Gordon might have become the chef on Below Deck. However, judging by his gluttonous mouth and lack of filter, he probably won’t last long under the leadership of Captain Lee Rosbach.
