She graduated from Spring Grove Regional High School, and during high school she swam under coach Michael Brooks at the York YMCA Aquatic Club. Her height is about 5 ft 5 in (165 cm). Hali’s flashing career

During high school, she was a three-time Academic All-American. In 2011 and 2012, she was the national champion at the YMCA Short Course national championships in the 200-yard butterfly. The best part is that she set records in both races. In 2014, she placed 9th in the 400-meter IM, 9th in the 400-meter backstroke, and 3rd in the 200-meter butterfly, placing her on the 2014-2015 United States National Swimming Team. She currently represents Cali Condors, part of the International Swimming Federation.

In 2012, Flickinger qualified for the United States Olympic Trials, where she placed 25th in the 200m butterfly, 29th in the 200m backstroke, and 30th in the 200m IM. At the 2014 Pan Pacific Championships in Australia, she placed 10th in the 100m butterfly and even competed at the 2011 FINA World Youth Championships in Peru and the 2011 FINA World Cup in Russia and Germany. At the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, she finished 7th in the 200m butterfly. During the 2021 Summer Olympics trials, she qualified for her 2nd Olympics, this time in the 400 IM, finishing 2nd behind Emma Weyant with a lifetime best of 4 : 33.96. In the 200 fly final, she swam more consistently than ever and clocked 2:05.85 in a new PR and US Open record, qualifying her for the second event in Tokyo.
