According to The New York Post, Gordon’s team made sure the Hell’s Kitchen contestants felt okay about their situation before sending them away.
An immediate psychiatric evaluation was performed on each person after their disqualification. During the assessment, doctors can decipher a person’s level of mental well-being before devising a plan of action.
A source explained: “The experience can be quite tiring, so [the producers] want to make sure you don’t want to kill yourself – or someone else.” This is clearly a smart move because emotions can be very intense.
“Then they send you to this beautiful house where you can get anything you want: back rubs, manicures, haircuts,” the source continued. It’s like a release before you go back into society.”
Getting pampered – even just a little – before being sent home is a great way to ensure eliminated contestants don’t have to suffer after being sent off the show.
