The kind-hearted man who assisted police in apprehending a guy suspected of assault is being praised by the Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO). As they were traveling from Owasso to Tulsa along Highway 75, they said witnesses witnessed a guy assaulting a woman in a car and called 911. The video captured Robert Grayson being stabbed. The arrest was made public by the Tulsa County Sheriff. On the footage, police can be heard saying: “You are under arrest for domestic battery and assault.” According to officers, the caller reported seeing a car swerving and said Grayson was about to hit a woman inside.
Was the Good Samaritan arrested?
According to TCSO’s Casey Roebuck, “He could see the male driver of the car assaulting a female passenger, just kicking and punching her brutally and the car careening off the road.” According to deputies, the good Samaritan followed the car to Tulsa and gave them a description of what was happening and where they were.
During the 911 call, Roebuck said, “He relayed the location and what was happening from out of county, where he called us, to the city of Tulsa, where the suspect was headed.” According to deputies, at a red light around Riverside and 39th, the victim attempted to exit the vehicle. Then, the driver accelerated, causing the victim to be thrown out of the car. “At certain points during this trip, the woman was basically climbing out the window trying to get help from people, trying to get out of the car,” Roebuck said. Grayson was arrested by police at his residence but he claimed he was the victim.
In the body camera video, Grayson can be heard saying, “Look at my forehead and my face where she hit me.” Deputies claim they know the woman was not the attacker because the good-natured person observed what happened. TCSO reports that the helpful stranger did the right thing and assisted them safely and remotely. “He observed and reported, and that’s exactly what we want people to do,” Roebuck added. “Be our eyes and ears, observe and report to us, but don’t put yourself in danger,” the message said. She went on to say: “She hopes that this is a lesson if someone is brave enough to attack a partner in a public area like on the street. They must know that others are watching and ready to act to support this individual. So this is all about this case. So stay tuned for PKB news.
