Rapper Jack Harlow performed his Thanksgiving halftime show during the Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers game, and fans booed him on social media.
In 2022, Bebe Rexha faced backlash during the Thanksgiving Day game in Detroit when the stage was obscured from view. As a result, organizers have reconfigured the 2023 show to include a stage on the field and in plain sight.
To get some attention, Jack Harlow and Dolly Parton were invited to perform at two Thanksgiving Day halftime games this year.
Harlow performed a small set at the Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers game, while Parton performed inside Dallas’ AT&T Stadium during the game between the Cowboys and Washington Commanders.

Jack Harlow performed a lackluster performance and fans were unhappy
Performing from a makeshift igloo, Jack Harlow belted out a collection of his greatest hits, including “Tyler Herro.” He performs confidently and is surrounded by an unknown performer who appears to imitate his movements and lip-sync to the words.
The crowd could be heard faintly cheering in the background, but the reaction online was a very different story. It was extremely negative, with many shots of his stage presence and the stage on which he performed.
“Jack Harlow actually stole his church’s VBS decorations for the Thanksgiving halftime show,” one fan quipped.
Another agreed, writing, “My middle school play featured Jack Harlow.”
Annie Agar wrote, “The jack harlow sets the budget,” with a photo of Patrick from Spongebob Squarepants holding up three dollars.
Some users also pointed out the absurdity of the background presentation.
“I actually thought the guy in the blue fur hat was the worst ASL translator ever for the first minute,” one fan joked.
Andrew Johnson posted a clip of his own performance with the caption: “How the bro behind Jack Harlow is hyping him up.”
In general, the public did not find the performance worthy of its quality. Many others took to Twitter/X to express their distaste for the moment.
“My 64 year old dad was watching Jack Harlow do the halftime show,” one fan wrote.
Thanksgiving Day 2023 is filled with music. During the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, acts such as Brandy, Cher, Jon Batiste and En Vogue performed. Stepping onto the stage together, K-pop band Enhypen completely dominated the show.
