Tommy Fury defeated KSI in a razor-thin majority decision, but now many fans are calling the boxing match “rigged.”
Tommy Fury and KSI finally faced off on October 14, but the result left many fans and viewers questioning the legitimacy of the decision.
Two of the three judges scored the fight 57-56 in favor of Fury, while the third judge scored the fight 57-57 after six rounds. The only rounds that the judges unanimously agreed on were rounds 1, 3 and 4.
KSI expressed his indignation at this decision and determined to appeal. He declared after the fight, “Robbery, it was a robbery. How many jabs have you landed? You didn’t land. Look at your face, look at your eyes, look at you. I want to appeal. That’s outrageous. I feel like I won that.”
Famous streamer IShowSpeed reflected the sentiments of many fans, saying that KSI was “robbed.”
Another tweet, currently has more than 700 thousand views, writing, “KSI literally dominated Tommy Fury in this fight. This was clearly rigged. KSI was robbed.”
The fight was considered one of the “worst” of the year, with both fighters spending a significant amount of time embracing each other instead of exchanging blows. As a result, the two fighters struggled to land any meaningful punches.
Fury, the younger brother of heavyweight boxing champion Tyson Fury, appears to be struggling to find his rhythm in the face of KSI’s unorthodox tactics.
Another controversial element of the fight was Fury’s repeated blows to the back of KSI’s head. While Fury was docked a point in the second round for illegal strikes, KSI and his camp argued that the fouls continued throughout the fight and the referee only penalized Fury once.
KSI expressed his frustration, saying, “Dude, he hit me in the back of the head so many times! Many times. And the referee only gave one point and he kept doing it over and over again.”
Despite questions regarding the decision, Fury remains the victor and extended his undefeated record to 10-0, while KSI is now 1-1 as a professional boxer , with his only win coming against Logan Paul in 2019.
Considering the controversy surrounding the result and the possibility of an appeal from KSI, it remains to be seen whether a rematch is in the offing.
