Lil Nas X took to social media to tease his first Christian song and declare that he is now entering his “Christian era.”
Lil Nas X has built a career singing about “Old Town Road” and sliding down utility poles into hell. His musical expertise is admirable and he often stands at the crossroads of hip-hop, rap and pop.
His last studio album, 2021’s Montero, saw the star hit his musical stride. The Grammy winner aimed for the stars and succeeded in reaching new heights of fame.
In 2023, the singer/rapper changes things up a bit and ventures beyond his typical genre boundaries in search of something truly unexpected. Not sure if this is anyone’s 2023 bingo card.

Lil Nas X enters his Christian era with new song teaser
On Twitter/X, Lil Nas X teased a new Christian song, writing: “Do you mind if I enter my Christian era?” The singer can be seen sitting inside the passenger seat of a truck singing to soothing guitar-led music.
“Dad, hold out your hand to me/ The lonely road seems to last the longest/ Help me realize my plans,” he sings. “Everything seems to be going nowhere / Frees me from worry and pity.”
The song gradually increases until the beat drops to what appears to be the hook. “I call out to the angels / I’m trying my best to face my pain, yeah,” he continues. “Give me hope when I feel/Give me hope when I feel weaker.”
Lil Nas X responds to claims it was all a “gimmick”
Many fans are still quick to criticize him for “ridicule Christianity”, while others said, “It’s not Christian but it’s cute.”
Hours after the trailer, Lil Nas X posted on Twitter to set the record straight.
“You all see everything I do as a gimmick. When in reality, I’m just an artist expressing myself in different ways,” he wrote. “Whether I’m a cowboy, gay, satanic or now a Christian, you all see the problem! Don’t police all of you, no one is as artistic as me. You all hate me because I’m happy, cute, and petite.”
However, it seems some users are still not satisfied.
“Still a satanic video,” Written another commenter.
Another user speak let him “repent. God hates all evildoers. You are a worker of iniquity. Repent once more.”
