Linus Tech Tips removed their latest “Secret Shopper 3” video from YouTube after PC Starforge warned them for “inaccurate” information.
On October 19, 2023, Linus Tech Tips posted part 2 of the “Secret Shopper 3” video series in which they anonymously ordered a Starforge PC.
In the clip, they apparently claimed that Starforge charged $300 to ship the PC from Texas to Canada as well as several other costs, leading to Starforge making a statement on Twitter/X.
Now, both Starforge’s original statement and Linus Tech Tips’ video have been removed as they both handled their differences privately.
Starforge criticized Linus Tech Tips in a deleted tweet
Starforge posted their statement on Twitter shortly after Linus Tech Tips’ video aired and disputed the YouTuber’s claims about expensive shipping fees.
The PC builders also revealed that the “damaged” computer that Linus Tech Tips’ received was allegedly damaged by the shipping company while it was in transit.
The statement has since been deleted but users have shared screenshots of it.
After deleting the statement, Starforge shared another update with their followers revealing that they are working privately with LTT.
“We appreciate everyone’s support of our last tweet. We have reached out to members of the LTT team and are working to resolve the differences privately. We ask that hate not be directed towards anyone – hate does not reflect who we are as a community. We admire the LTT team and the tremendous work they have put in to create one of the most respected technology media platforms in the world,” they said.
“As always, our mission is to provide the best PCs and customer service in the world. We will continue to work tirelessly to ensure that we fulfill that mission every day.”
Linus Tech Tips responded to Starforge’s note on Twitter
Shortly after the post was posted, Linus Tech Tips’ Twitter responded with their own statement, revealing that they were re-recording part of the video.
“We appreciate Starforge Systems reaching out, allowing both parties to provide additional context. “For our part, we will be reshooting a portion of Secret Shopper 3 Part 2 to better reflect our new understanding of what happened to the shipping costs on our invoices,” they said. said.
“Our comments on the packaging in the video reflect our personal experience and we hope this is an exception like Starforge’s statement. (Spoiler alert) You will also see in Part 3 when we cover customer service, Starforge stands out for good reasons.”
