After just a few weeks together, Love Island’s Sammy Root and Jess Harding are the latest couple to split in Season 10.
While Season 10 of Love Island brought eternal love to some couples, it also brought a lot of heartbreak.
Several couples formed inside the mansion have announced their splits, from Mitch and Ella B. to Catherine and Elom, as well as Montel and Leah.
Unfortunately, the farewell list is not over yet. Just weeks after their surprise win and a £50,000 cash prize, Season 10 winners Sammy Root and Jess Harding have decided to split.
Love Island Season 10’s Jess and Sammy broke up?
On October 3, Daily Mail was the first newspaper to report that the two had broken up.
“Jess and Sammy have decided to give up. Things have changed since leaving the villa and Jess realized they were better off as friends,” a source told the outlet.
After the news broke, Sammy quickly took to social media to share that he was completely stunned by their breakup announcement.
“I am committed and respectful of our relationship. Unfortunately, things don’t always go as you expect,” he wrote on his IG story.
Following her bold announcement, Jess did a Q&A on her Instagram story and gave a cryptic answer about their split.
One of the last times the two spoke publicly about their relationship was when the couple admitted they were taking it slow and didn’t want to rush into anything.
Sadly, this isn’t the only case of UK winners ending their romance after defeating their opponents.
Season 7’s Liam and Millie decided to break up but later revealed that they had reconciled. It will depend on what caused their split, but there could be a second chance for Sammy and Jess. Only time will tell.
