The event became Super Smash Bros’ most-watched tournament when it went live, proving that fans around the world loved it.
However, Ludwig announced on September 27, 2023 that the event will not take place this year.
Ludwig cancels Mogul Chessboxing 2023 tournament
Sharing in a tweet, Ludwig mentioned that he was “extremely disappointed” to make this announcement.
“I am extremely saddened to announce that the Chess Tournament will not take place this year,” he said.
“This is definitely the biggest failure of my career but has motivated me to be the best creator I can be in 2024.”
Not long after the tweet, Ludwig’s fans began sharing their love for the iconic creator.
YouTuber Karl Jacobs responded that Ludwig had a “sick career.”
“It’s easy to get stuck trying to figure out where things went wrong. Totally here but try not to let it consume you too long, man. Such a sick career is only going to get more and more interesting. Sorry, this doesn’t work for you,” he commented.
Another replied: “Keep your heads up – 2024 is going to be a big year.”

The streamer went on to detail why the event did not take place, citing concerns about the complexity of sanctioning the event and concerns for the safety of the contestants.
Ludwig always seems to have something important going on, so it’s understandable that that strange event happens from time to time.
He’s previously brought fans iconic shows like Mogul Money and various Super Smash Bros tournaments, and they’re excited to see what he has in store for 2024 .
