She moved to Jerusalem in the spring of 2009. She opened an NPR bureau in Brazil in April 2013. In February 2011, Garcia-Navarro was one of the first reporters to report from eastern Libya as the uprising is growing stronger. She reported for months from Benghazi, Tripoli and the rebel-held mountainous west as rebels fought fiercely against the regime of Colonel Muammar Gaddafi. Garcia-Navarro’s frontline reporting made her one of the most acclaimed journalists covering the Arab Spring.
