Madison Beer has addressed the “nasty” controversy surrounding her reportedly canceled appearance in Ariana Grande’s ‘Thank u Next’ music video.
Back in 2020, influencer and singer Madison Beer received a lot of backlash after claiming that she was supposed to appear in Ariana Grande’s music video for the song ‘Thank u Next ‘ hers.
“I hate saying this, because everyone on Twitter is like, ‘You’re lying, I hate you.’ I should have been in the video,” Beer said during the fan meeting.
“When they were filming, I was in Miami. She told me the whole idea and said, ‘Yeah, we’re doing this Mean Girls thing.’ And I was in my bedroom in Miami thinking, ‘Let’s fly back to LA now!’”
The video went viral on social media, sparking criticism from Grande fans who believe Beer is lying about her supposed appearance in the video – including the appearance by YouTuber Colleen Ballinger, influencer Gabi DeMartino and even Kris Jenner.

However, Beer has now addressed the issue some three years later, admitting that the incident was “confusing” but asserting that she was indeed invited to participate in the project.
“I did!” she explained in a recent interview on the Zach Sang Show. “I didn’t even mean to bring it up, my mind was like, ‘Say it.’ That whole situation, I can laugh about it now, but people were very mean to me about it.”
“Listen, the way I speak is definitely annoying,” she admitted. “The way it came out of my mouth was so annoying. But I was just talking to some of my fans and I don’t know… it’s horrible.”
“I will get on the hate train with you. But I would never lie about such things. That’s what bothers me the most. …why would I lie publicly when I know people are filming me?”
Madison then claimed that she had the receipts, but felt that showing them off would make an already “unpleasant” situation even more embarrassing.
Bia is often compared to Ariana Grande, and in the past fans called her a “wannabe” — something she gave up and continues to fight against years later.
