What is the movie Markiplier’s Iron Lung about?
Markiplier’s debut film is titled ‘Iron Lung’ and is based on the 2022 horror game of the same name.
In the game, the player takes on the role of a convict tasked with exploring the ocean of blood on a desolate moon after a catastrophic event called ‘The Quiet Rapture’ resulted in the sudden disappearance of planets and the star is habitable.
All remaining human life is placed on alien spacecraft, leading to a “collapsed” government and prompting a desperate attempt to survive by searching for the remaining desolate moons – specifically the ‘blood moon’ in the game.

On April 21, 2023, Mark released the first trailer for his film. In the short clip, the camera switches from an interior view of the submarine from the game, complete with dirty PS1-style graphics, to a real-life view of the submarine itself.
While it’s only a brief look at the project, it’s clear that Iron Lung was created with love in an attempt to recreate the game as closely as possible.
On October 14, Markiplier dropped the “official” trailer for his upcoming film, giving fans a closer look at what they’ll be in for.
In the short clip, Markiplier’s character can be seen rising from a pool of blood, perhaps the ocean of blood in the game Iron Lung. As ominous music plays, Mark repeats lines from a note the player finds in the game, assessing them for the hopelessness of their situation.

When does Markiplier’s Iron Lung come out?
As of now, there is no release date listed for Iron Lung. However, Markiplier has revealed some key details about its development, which he has shared in videos and livestreams with fans over the past few months.
Will Iron Lung be released in theaters?
He also confirmed that the film will be released in theaters, although exact details about this are still unknown.
In Markiplier’s October 14 trailer, he stated that the film would be “coming to theaters soon.”
Does Markiplier star in his movie Iron Lung?
Yes, Markiplier is acting in his first film. In an interview with Variety, the YouTuber revealed that he is writing, directing and acting in the film, even performing “most” of his own stunts.
During a livestream on Monday, April 17, the YouTuber said he actually hurt his back while performing a stunt that was so over-the-top compared to other stunts he has performed.
Is Iron Lung’s creator in the movie?
Mark isn’t the only main star in the film either; in fact, Iron Lung creator David Szymanski also helped make the film. According to a tweet from the developer, he was “heavily involved” in the production of the film and even had a “small cameo” in it.
