Muscle memory says that Quinn was born on November 18, 1961. At AAU Mr. America in 1981, where he took home the overall Junior title and finished 10th in the heavyweight division, he made his bodybuilding debut. A year later, Quinn began competing at the national amateur level. He received his IFBB pro card when he won the 1987 NPC USA overall title. Quinn participated in 10 competitions in 1988. In all of them, he placed in the top 7, with his best performance coming in the Mr. Olympia debuted in sixth place. With that victory, Lee Haney claimed his fifth of eight Sandow trophies. Quinn entered the Olympia again in 1989 and 1990, finishing sixth and eleventh, respectively. Quinn has a large following overseas despite never having taken home a prize in a professional competition. Quinn joined the World Bodybuilding Federation in 1991 after leaving the International Federation of Bodybuilders. Quinn has only participated in one tournament under the WBF brand, finishing 12th at the WBF Grand Prix. Within a year, the business failed and Quinn applied to rejoin the IFBB.

In 1993, Quinn appeared again on the IFBB stage and finished outside the top 15 at Night of Champions. At Night of Champions in 1994, having advanced to fifth place, he competed in the Mr. Olympia, finishing outside the top 15.
