Every country has its own way of expressing its culture, festivals and holidays. This time, the country’s jersey was also in the news and people wanted to know the meaning depicted in it and why Canadians wanted to buy and wear it. This jersey was designed by graphic artist Amelie Lehoux, who has always been a hockey fan. She is a graphic designer and illustrator from Montreal. She said that as a child, her father Mario often took her to watch the Habs play at the Bell Center. “It was a father-daughter outing for us, so I always had an emotional connection to hockey.”

She was always passionate about drawing and from a young age she decided to pursue a career in this field and became a popular graphic designer. Amelie Lehoux spent her childhood redesigning the logos and jerseys of various National Hockey League teams. “I have always found hockey team jerseys beautiful and iconic. It’s unbelievable, for all these years, I’ve been entrusted with the project I dreamed about as a child.” She was tasked with illustrating the artwork that will appear on the jerseys and sweaters that Canadian players will wear during warmups for this year’s Pride Night.
Pride Night is presented by Scotiabank on Thursday, April 6, 2023 at the Bell Centre. This will be an opportunity for the group to show its strength and support to all members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. Amelie is also part of this community. “When I was first approached by the Montreal Canadiens, I immediately said yes,” she said. It means so much to me to be able to celebrate and highlight this community that I love so deeply and dearly, a community that remains marginalized and often not visible enough. ”
For this design, Amelia created multiple lists that she used to design jerseys reminiscent of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community along with keywords related to the world of hockey, to general topics for her to use. Use both on this jersey. Additionally, Denis Gurianov, a player for the Montreal Canadiens, was removed from the pre-game warm-up scheduled for Thursday, April 6, 2023 before the Habs’ annual Pride Nigh game because he refused refused to wear a pride-themed jersey.
