Olivia Rodrigo’s latest album, GUTS, released on September 8, 2023, to near critical acclaim as fans flocked to their favorite streaming platforms to check it out.

However, shortly after it was released, fans noticed similarities between Rodrigo’s “All-American Bitch” and Miley Cyrus’s song “Start All Over.”

Taking to social media to share their thoughts, fans were divided on whether they heard similarities or not.

Did Olivia Rodrigo’s “All American Bitch” plagiarize Miley Cyrus?

Following her 2021 hit SOUR, Olivia Rodrigo’s album features a variety of melodies and emotions throughout its 12 tracks.

The first song, All American Bitch is more punk-rock than some of her other songs — and some say it’s a direct parody of Miley Cyrus’ “Start All Over.”

One person also posted a video showing a clip of both songs. They said: “I love Olivia and All American Bitch is that song, but does it sound familiar? Did I achieve it?

Another user replied: “Olivia Rodrigo’s chorus for all American bitches sounds like a Miley Cyrus reboot.”

“Really, Olivia Rodrigo? First you cheated on Taylor Swift and now you’re cheating on Miley Cyrus, I’m done,” a third Twitter user commented.

The backlash quickly spread to TeaTokTalk on Instagram, where others also began sharing their thoughts on the similarities. There, many people believe that they are not very similar.

“This is a tension. They’re just pop punk vibes. Certain fanbases hate Olivia,” one user said on Instagram.

A second commented: “As someone who has been obsessed with Miley since 2006, this seems excessive.”

This isn’t the first time Olivia has been accused of copying an artist’s music as she paid millions of dollars in royalties to Taylor Swift and Paramore after the release of SOUR.
