Oscar Isaac has taken the world by storm in recent years, starring in critically acclaimed films such as Inside Llewyn Davis, A Most Violent Year and Ex Machina. He not only pleased critics but also audiences by appearing in some of Hollywood’s biggest franchises like Star Wars and the X-Men franchise. He’s also set to play iconic hero Moon Knight in the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe TV series on Disney+.

Most recently, the Guatemalan-American actor has teamed up with legendary writer/director Paul Schrader, whose films include Taxi Driver, The Last Temptation of Christ, American Gigolo, and most recently First Reformed. Together, they will bring to life The Card Counter (written and directed by Schrader), scheduled to hit theaters this fall.

Watch the trailer and synopsis for The Card Counter below:

Redemption is a long game in Paul Schrader’s “The Card Counter.” Told with Schrader’s signature cinematic intensity, the revenge thriller tells the story of a former military interrogator turned gambler who is haunted by the ghosts of his past decisions and has riveting performances from stars Oscar Isaac, Tiffany Haddish, Tye Sheridan and Willem Dafoe.

Between the solid cast – Tiffany Haddish (The Last OG) in a more dramatic role is an interesting turn and who can say “no” to William Dafoe (The Florida Project) – and the story seems complicated. The Card Counter looks to be a very nicely stylized revenge thriller that you won’t be able to miss.

Card Counter will be released in cinemas on September 10.
