Playboy Bunny Holly Madison revealed she was recently diagnosed with “high-functioning” autism.
Holly Madison is known as a prominent Playboy Bunny. She began living in the mansion with Hugh Hefner in 2001 and dated him until 2008.
Even though she’s the life of the party and has an affable personality to many, Madison recently opened up about her autism diagnosis.
She also revealed that she had doubts all her life and had seen the signs before.
Holly Madison said she and her mother suspected she had autism when she was young
Madison revealed to Payne Lindsey on his podcast, Talking To Death, that she has “high-functioning” autism.
Although she understands that she can function better in public than others on the autism spectrum, Madison has encountered difficulties.
She said she was dealing with an inability to recognize social cues and how she perceived things differently from others.
However, Madison defended herself by saying: “I’m just defending it. I think it’s because I grew up in Alaska, then around middle school, moved to Oregon and I thought, ‘Wow, that’s just a big social change.’”
And even though her doctor recently diagnosed her with autism, Madison recalls having doubts since childhood, saying, “I suspected it for a while because my mother told me she always doubted it. I suspected it was something.”
Madison continued, “The first thing she noticed was that when I was little I used to go on outings and people would always ask her, ‘What’s wrong with her? What is she doing?’ And my mother would say, ‘She’s thinking.’”
Madison even had to apologize to those who she felt were socially shunned, as she often spoke over others in conversations, unable to distinguish the right time to speak.
She also asked people to be “patient” with her, even though she was aware of her diagnosis. And even though she struggles with certain things, Madison makes sure she still tries to engage in daily endeavors as “normally” as possible.
