Content creator Pokimane has apologized to fans for a recent joke she made about her viewers being too “poor” to support the price of her cookies and is now reconsidering the price after receiving backlash for being “expensive.”
Pokimane is one of the most famous content creators in the world. The streamer is known for playing video games, collaborating with other streamers, and calling out sexism and misogyny in the gaming space.
However, Poki has apologized for recent comments she made during an online session criticizing “bankrupt” fans who criticized the price of her controversial Myna cookies.
“When people say ‘oh my God, $28 for a cookie.’ There are four bags, priced at $7 each. I know, I know math is hard when you’re an idiot. However, if you are a poor guy, say so,” Pokimane said during her November 18 broadcast.
Following the online backlash, Pokimane has now appeared on Twitter and apologized for the comments, claiming that she meant them as a “joke.”
“Even though what I said was 100% intended as a joke, I understand why it came across as insensitive and I apologize for that,” Pokiumane said in a tweet posted on November 19.
Pokimane later revealed that she would “continue to review the pricing” of her Myna cookies due to the negative response from viewers.
“I also understand that the current price of biscuits may be expensive for some and promise that we will continue to review pricing to keep myna as affordable as possible.”
Time will tell what new pricing formula Pokimane will come up with and what this will look like for her fans. However, we’ll be sure to keep you updated as she reveals more details about her cookies.
