A shocked shopper took to Reddit after discovering their newly purchased shirt was “designed to fade” and it turns out they weren’t the first to be scammed.
Buying new clothes can be a fun and exciting way to revamp your wardrobe and treat yourself to something fun.
But remember to check the tag for all care instructions before buying something you might later regret.
Now, one disappointed buyer took to Reddit after missing out on this crucial step and discovered the print on their new shirt was “specifically designed to fade”.
‘Hushrai’ posted to the subreddit light-heartedly and wrote: “Just found out my new shirt is designed to fade over time. I specifically bought this shirt because the color is so beautiful.”
Accompanying the image of the shirt, Hushrai showed the tag that came with it; “This suit is specifically designed to fade over time. The dye in this clothing can stick to itself or other objects. Avoid contact with delicate surfaces and wash separately.”
And it turns out Hushrai isn’t the first person to accidentally buy a faded piece of clothing, as fellow Redditors chimed in to share their own stories of misfortune.
“I had the same problem with a pair of black shorts I bought for my partner online. No mention of fading on site,” wrote account ‘RedditGoneToTrash’. “When we received them they had the same message and were now gray and looking terrible after two washes. They don’t even ‘fade’ evenly.”
However, Redditor ‘conmanmurphy’ was less convinced by the faded garment’s intended purpose; “It’s like a way to positively say ‘We made a crap product!’”
Next time you go out shopping for clothes, check the design labels carefully. And in the meantime, be sure to check out all the latest entertainment news on our site here.
