A Subway tip machine caused quite a stir after it accidentally charged a woman $7,000 for a foot-long Italian sandwich.
Subway has come a long way since its humble beginnings in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Now, the submarine sandwich shop has become a fast food icon, with almost anyone able to order it when they need something to munch on.
Part of Subway’s appeal is not only the speed at which you get your food but also its lower prices, making the chain more accessible than some of its competitors.
However, its affordability wasn’t exactly a selling point for one Subway customer, who discovered that the tip machine accidentally charged them $7,000 for a sandwich order.
Twitter: Subway A price like that will make you as stunned as someone eating Subway like this.
According to customers, they believe the touchscreen is the reason for the hefty price tag. Apparently while they were entering their phone number, the screen switched to a tilt screen, costing them thousands of dollars and reportedly still not being refunded.
Vera Conner clearly wasn’t too happy about the value of their purchase, saying “I could go to Italy and buy the sandwich.”
Normally, an Italian Subway sandwich would cost around $7.50, however, Conner was apparently faced with thousands of dollars more than they expected.
Initially receiving a denial from her credit card company when she disputed the charge, Conner reportedly still hasn’t gotten her money back. According to WSB-TV, Conner’s bank is working with Subway to resolve the issue.
