A teacher has revealed the living conditions of the secondary school where she works, sparking outrage over a cockroach infestation in her classroom.
When sending children to school, most parents have certain expectations for educational institutions to fulfill their duty of care.
That often includes maintaining hygiene and a clean environment – however, not all schools meet this standard.
Now, a teacher has opened up about the secondary school where she works, revealing a cockroach infestation has taken over her classroom
Javone Kereenyaga, who goes by the nickname ‘jkereenyaga’ on TikTok, posted a video to the platform with the caption: “THIS is the environment the children will live in. Cockroaches in the walls, on the floor, in the cupboards, running around the classroom.”
Sure enough, the footage shows cockroaches scattered throughout the classroom, Javone said, adding, “There are still cockroaches and dead cockroaches in the desks, cabinets and counters behind my classroom.”
The school was revealed to be Lakeshore Middle School in Duval. Javone said, “Since they think they are right, I will show them that they are wrong… These are the conditions our teachers and all of our students are facing. Look at it.”
In the next section, Javone shows some of the messages she received from students after the school decided to “let go” of her. However, Javone promised, “I will never stop fighting against the injustices of Lake Shore Middle School and Duval County public schools.”
Viewers were outraged by the school’s conditions and Javone’s treatment, with one commenting: “That’s disgusting.”
Another person suggested: “Everyone call the Jacksonville Health Department and DFS because this is not safe for Children. They will go after the county.”
