A woman on TikTok has shared her “really unsettling” story of how she sought revenge on a man for 15 years after he spat on her friend.
You may have heard the saying “revenge is a dish best eaten cold”. It dates from 1782, translated from the epic novel Les Liaisons Dangereuses by Pierre Choderlos de Laclos.
The idea is that revenge feels most satisfying when exacted some time after the initial situation has cooled. However, it seems that one woman took this proverb to heart.
According to ‘lindasolleyhurd’ online, Linda shared on TikTok her “really unhinged” 15-year revenge against a man who once spat and insulted her friend at a bar.
“15 years ago, when I was in college, I went to a comedy show with some friends,” Linda begins. While attending the performance, her friend accidentally spilled a man’s drink, leading to a heated situation.
“He stood up and called her ‘stupid, fat’… and then he spit on her,” Linda said. When Linda came to defend her friend, she only received insults. So she decided to take revenge.
Finding the man on Facebook, Linda learns what his favorite TV show is and proceeds to create a fake account to reveal each upcoming episode. “He would make angry Facebook statuses and tweets like ‘Who is sending me this?’” she said.
This continued for many years before Linda decided she was over her grudge, but fate brought the two together again. Years later, when the man was engaged, Linda accidentally found his Reddit account.
“I saw some pretty sinister stuff on his Reddit,” Linda said, explaining that she later anonymously informed his fiance about what had been posted online.
The wedding is canceled, leading to an unexpected revenge plan that lasts 15 years. However, viewers were not satisfied with the morality of Linda’s actions, with one person writing: “Wasting so much energy harming someone. I have to wonder who would want to be with someone who is hateful enough to do all these things to destroy others.”
