Gerry Turner, also known as the newly inaugurated Golden Bachelor, recently admitted why movie premieres were so difficult for him.
Bachelor aside, the successful dating show has spawned a series that no one saw coming, but already exists: The Golden Bachelor.
This time it’s not singletons in their 20s looking for love on reality TV. Instead, a group of women aged 60 to 75 all competed to win the heart of 71-year-old Gerry Turner.
After losing his wife, he returned to dating as an eligible bachelor, proving that people of an older age still deserve romance.
However, Gerry may have been biting off more than he could chew when it came to a key aspect of the show: eliminations.
What happened on The Golden Bachelor premiere?
On September 28, Gerry spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about his first night in the mansion. While he made advances on several women, he also had to eliminate all six contestants in the same episode.
He explains that, “Getting to know the women as a group and how confident, poised and well-educated they were, the connection with them was quicker and deeper than with someone else. imaginable in such a short time. So sending some of them home at that time was extremely difficult.”
However, that doesn’t mean he won’t try his best to find a partner on the show, even if it means being romantic on screen.
“I was there to find my forever partner and I was ready to be vulnerable and open up a little bit,” Gerry said. So when some of those emotions moved me and touched another woman for something similar, I couldn’t help myself.”
