Umran Malik ended Charitha Asalanka’s innings with a storming ball that could have avoided Asalanka’s dismissal had Asalanka reconsidered, but did not reconsider.

It is common to see in cricket that batsmen confront the umpire after being dismissed. He also expressed anger at the referee’s decision. To avoid this, ICC has implemented DRS so that if a player feels an umpire’s decision is incorrect, he can challenge it. But the Lankan batsman surprised with his own decision in the first ODI between India and Sri Lanka in Guwahati. This batsman is Charitha Asalanka
Asalanka was dismissed by India’s blistering fast bowler Omran Malik. Asalanka returned to the stall off Umran at 144.5 km/h, but he could have survived with a little savvy.
Asalanka can avoid DRS
Malik bowled the last ball at leg. Asalanka tried to shoot but the ball reached goalkeeper KL Rahul without touching his stick. India has adopted this. The referee sent Asalanka out. Asalanka had the opportunity to consider but he did not take it. Asalanka might have survived had he reconsidered as video replays later showed there was no contact between ball and bat. Here he may have been confused about where the ball hit as the replay showed the ball hit the thigh and therefore Asalanka did not review.
Asalanka was also questioned here because he did not know that the ball did not touch his bat. Normally the batsman knows whether the ball touched the bat or not but Asalanka did not know that so he did not review. Asalanka scored 23 runs from 28 balls with 3 fours.

Shubman Gill also scored a half-century. He scored 70 runs off 60 balls.
