A man went viral on TikTok for making collectible cards in the “Divorced Dad” mold.
Trading cards have gone viral in the past, with franchises like Pokemon and Magic The Gathering making headlines. These TCG (Trading Card Game) franchises often go viral and break into mainstream media thanks to the attractive prices they command as bidders vie for rare cards.
However, outside of these major brands and occasionally others such as Yu-Gi-Oh, collectible cards have failed to attract the attention of the wider world.
That was until one man decided to create a series of TikTok videos in which he unboxed “Divorced Dad” cards that hilariously parodied stereotypes.
Everyone loves the “Divorced Dad” collection
TikTok racked up millions of views per video as his parody collectible card series went viral, as he monotonously went through each “Divorced Dad” stereotype with hilarious cards new for each skit.
People have loved the series and how the cards parody the funny and relatable Dad stereotypes as well as the serious card trading scene.
“As someone who enjoys watching MtG packs open, this parody is perfect,” one person commented. Another added: “As a child of many divorces, I find this so funny.”
The series has become so popular that the TikTok community that loves and looks forward to each installment has started a joke in which they joke about a mythical “house” card.
“I am a simple man. I saw the divorced dad cards, I liked the video. I’m here until we move house,” one person commented under the video. “House card is a myth, I believe it doesn’t exist,” said another.
This series is one of the more wholesome things that have gone viral on the popular social media platform TikTok, unlike the recent viral video in which a woman showcased a cockroach she got in your McDonald’s meal.
