Two TikTokers have sparked an online debate after smuggling a live tree branch through the airport by hiding it in a Chick-fil-A cup.
When traveling by plane, airports have strict regulations on what passengers are allowed to bring on the flight.
However, these security measures are aimed at keeping everyone safe, with one TikToker sparking debate after revealing they smuggled a live tree branch through the airport.
Rafa and Vero, who go by ‘.rafayvero’ on TikTok, posted a video of the cutout hidden in a Chick-fil-A cup after they discovered a “cute tree” at the airport and brought one piece goes home for breeding.
However, many people disagree with the couple’s antics, pointing out the dangers of smuggling live plants. Matt Lipari, who goes by ‘mattlipari’ online, took to TikTok to harshly criticize the couple’s actions.
“Seriously, I’m not kidding, I hope you get arrested when you land,” Matt began. “I know there’s an invasive species hitchhiking in that tree… It’s about to wreak havoc on the ecosystem because you want your little Chick-fil-A smuggling operation to succeed.”
Warning the pair that taking wild animals to a new country is to be taken very seriously, Matt said: “You should be in a maximum security prison for endangering my life with the fern His little one in the cup. I won’t have it.”
Not all were convinced by the dangers Matt listed, with some viewers claiming this was a common household plant that the pair had stolen; “It’s a pothos plant and it’s very popular in many countries as a houseplant, I have two and to be honest it’s 10/10.”
“I could do the same thing,” one person wrote. Another said: “As long as you fly back home, I feel like this is fine.”
