Tate McRae appeared on the talk show Lorraine where she credited Tinashe and Victoria Monet for bringing the dance back in the video and Tinashe’s fans were angry about it.
Tate McRae is having a great week. Recently, she scored her first Top 10 hit (“Greedy”) on the Billboard Hot 100. Additionally, with the release of her debut album, Think Later, she established her status in the music industry pop.
In her music videos, she showed off her impressive dancing skills, causing many to call the rookie the “new Britney” after her performance on SNL.
However, things changed after McRae did an interview in which she credited no other famous singer/dancer. And fans are upset.

Tinashe fans were angry when Tate McRae didn’t mention her favorite singer
In an interview for Lorraine, Tate McRae sat down to talk about Think Later and her dance background. “It’s fun to be able to dance so much in one video,” she said. “I think a lot of girls are bringing it back – like Victoria Monet now… and Normani.”

She added, “But it’s fun to play and be able to dance with people I’ve admired for so long.”
Tinashe’s fans immediately took to Twitter/X to express their anger.
“Tinashe did better,” Written a fan.
“A barely seasoned copy of Tinashe, mind you,” speak a fan.
Additional users blown away McRae wrote, “I mean she copies a lot of Tinashe, who has been doing it tirelessly since ~2014, but sure.”
“Damn, I have to respect Tinashe too. Love Normani and Vic Monet, but Room for Us and Bounce MVs have killer choreography,” mentioned other users.

Some fans confirmed McRae mentioned Tinashe in another interview, where they shared screenshots alleging that she had, in fact, credited Tinashe. After a period of investigation, no source has yet been discovered.
