Twitch has banned a Spanish-speaking streamer after he was unexpectedly robbed in the middle of a broadcast.
IRL Twitch streams can be some of the most entertaining on the platform, but they also come with a series of risks, especially when one ventures into a potentially unsafe area.
Over the years, we’ve seen dozens of wild IRL incidents, including fights, streamers having their phones stolen, and now even a makeup studio being robbed at gunpoint.
During a November 30 broadcast, Twitch streamer ‘shuls_of’ was applying makeup when suddenly two masked men appeared with guns drawn at the end of the disturbing broadcast.
Twitch bans streamer after masked men robbed him at gunpoint
In a clip from the stream that was saved and posted to social media, a woman was applying makeup to ‘shuls_of’ when the sound of a gun being cocked rang out, shocking everyone in the room.
As the woman screamed, two masked intruders entered with guns drawn. After telling the woman to be quiet, they grabbed the streamer and checked his pockets, taking out his cell phone.
Soon after, the thieves took the live streaming camera and offline broadcast, making viewers fear that something might have happened.
However, according to some users, this streamer’s brother, minisapo777_, who also broadcasts on Twitch, Verified that he’s okaybut the Amazon-owned platform eventually banned shuls_of after the robbery.
Twitch’s community guidelines state: “In the event a user loses control of their broadcast due to serious injury, medical emergency, police action, or being targeted with serious violence, We will temporarily remove the channel and related content.” So, there’s a good chance this streamer will get his channel back once things calm down.
This is not the first gun-related robbery to occur on Twitch this year. In October, a live streamer in Toronto was held at gunpoint and had a diamond necklace worth $100,000 stolen.
