Twitch CEO Dan Clancy was denied a partnership program on his own streaming platform for not attracting enough viewers during his streams.
This year’s TwitchCon 2023 kicked off on October 20, when thousands of fans and streamers descended on Las Vegas for the three-day event.
Twitch’s CEO also attended the conference to announce various changes coming to the leading streaming platform. Most notably, streamers are being allowed to stream on multiple platforms.
However, an announcement he probably didn’t expect to make in the middle of the event was that he was rejected by Twitch in hopes of becoming a live streaming partner.
Twitch CEO refuses to become a syndicated streamer
The Twitch CEO shared on his Twitter/X account that he was not accepted by his own company to join their partnership program.
“For anyone who was rejected by Twitch to become a partner, it doesn’t feel too bad. Just had my Partner application rejected. I didn’t tell anyone I was applying,” Clancy admitted.
He goes by the name djclancy on Twitch, as screenshots detailing the email he received provide the reason why.
“Thank you for signing up for the Partner Program. Completing the Path to Partnership Achievement is an important milestone to achieve, however, we are unable to offer you a Partnership at this time,” Twitch’s email stated.
Interestingly, the reason given by the Partnership team was directed towards his lack of viewership: “Your viewership has fluctuated significantly recently and we are looking for consistency instead of The number of viewers sometimes increases dramatically.
Despite his busy schedule as CEO, Clancy is also known to stream when he can. His live streams provided additional updates and answered viewer questions about the broadcast service.
Additionally, viewers were impressed by the Twitch CEO’s musical abilities with a variety of musical instruments.
