Uber Eats is facing backlash after restaurants started using AI-generated food images on their menus and the results are laughable.
Using exact photos of products on sale is often considered ideal, but restaurants have been caught using AI to create photos of food on Uber Eats.
AI continues to be a hot topic in 2023 with technological improvements and controversies surrounding AI’s content creation capabilities, potentially taking away human jobs.
However, the latest incident shows that the technology still has a long way to go after users discovered restaurants using AI-generated food photos.
Uber Eats’ strange AI-generated dish is going viral
In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, user ‘realonlineboy’ uploaded a screenshot of a pizza restaurant’s Uber Eats menu and how strange some of the dishes looked.
“Uber Eats is using AI to take photos of food. It doesn’t know that ‘pie’ means pizza,” they wrote, pointing to one of the images as an actual pie.
In addition, the restaurant even created a new type of farmwear called “Lelnach” with the upper part of the product all deformed in typical AI fashion.
JustinWhang retweeted the post with his own discoveries, including strange images of what appears to be a pizza-alphabet soup hybrid that the user started mocked because it contains “ancient runes”.
In the comments section, realonlineboy explains that this not a “ghost kitchen” as many people think, but rather an actual pizza shop in New York City that has been around for a while called Tony’s Pizzeria & Restaurant.
It’s unclear whether the restaurant itself uploaded the AI images or if there were some other shenanigans going on at work, but that didn’t stop social media from mocking the sloppy AI and some people even Wish they could handle those silly looking things. meal.
