United Airlines has created a new boarding system for passengers and frequent flyers who are unhappy about the change.
While boarding a plane can be exciting, it can sometimes be difficult to navigate around the people already on the plane.
To alleviate that frustration among passengers, United Airlines has changed the way they can board their flights.
Since the announcement of the new system, United Airlines passengers have reacted with displeasure, calling the change “unfair.”
Changes to United Airlines’ boarding system will not affect every passenger
While first class, premium class and pre-boarding groups will not be subject to United Airlines’ changes, those in economy class will have to follow their new guidelines when boarding.
The changes taking effect will no longer require passengers to board flights by region. Instead, flyers will be referred to by seating arrangements such as window, middle, and aisle.
Window seats, emergency exit row seats and waiting seats will be boarded first, followed by middle seats. Passengers sitting next to the aisle will board the plane last.
Instagram: peoplePeople are questioning the meaning of United Airlines’ new boarding changes, since it doesn’t include a system for families with children.
United Airlines even created an acronym for the change called “WILMA” – window, middle aisle.
The change is being made to reduce the time passengers have to stand up for someone else to move into their seat. It is estimated that at least two minutes will be saved on boarding when using the WILMA method.
After the announcement of the new changes, United Airlines passengers reacted with disapproval, saying: “Why don’t we get on the flight back ahead? It makes the most sense of all.
Additionally, “It’s not fair to people with carry-on bags and no seats available because they sit in the aisle.”
Many others are dissatisfied, saying these changes will force families with children to live in separate accommodation.
United Airlines’ new boarding system will launch on October 26 for domestic and some international flights.
