Never done before, the Salvation Army is now asking people to use Apple Pay to donate during the holiday season.
There are some things that are unavoidable when it comes to holiday shopping – one of them is the Red Salvation Army donation box.
Usually, a volunteer will ring the bell when asking passersby to donate cash or change.
However, on a recent shopping trip, a woman happened upon the Salvation Army’s Apple Pay station.
Since then, people have reacted, outraged at how the idea of donating has changed.
People are shocked at the amount of money the Salvation Army is asking for donations through Apple Pay
TikToker Ms. Parkman was recently holiday shopping when she had the opportunity to donate to the Salvation Army.
However, to her surprise, the way to donate seemed a little different. While recording her viral TikTok video, Ms. Parkman walked up to the Apple Pay station.
All you have to do is tap your phone to charge and your donation to the Salvation Army will be made.
However, not only was there no one present at the pay station, but there were only three prices for donations – $20, $10 and $5.
People who watched Ms. Parkman’s video were stunned to see how the donation process had changed and said: “I remember asking my mom for some change to give to Santa, laughing. Not without $5.”
Someone also asked where the $1 option was, as they also thought the price was a bit high to ask.
Others scoffed at the idea and joked: “Sorry, I only brought cash.”
And although Ms. Parkman responded to a comment saying that she usually withdraws a few dollars to donate to her children during the holidays, it seemed like she was disappointed because she also mentioned that she enjoyed “pleasant” bells. .
