A woman posted a video of a shopper saying she was arrested at Walmart for trying to buy an item for 3 cents. Commenters weighed in.

In a viral video on TikTok, a woman shows a clip at the beginning with the caption: “Arrested at Walmart for trying to buy items for $0.03.”

“Here’s what’s going on with Walmart,” she began.

“Walmart, like other stores, has a system where when something is out of season, they try to reduce the price on clearance…usually when it’s 90% off it’s so cheap, people clear the shelves , then when the shelves are cleared, they replace them with whatever is currently in season.”

She said like many other influencers, she shared information with her viewers and told them the items were on sale for 3 cents, “Because my job is to educate people How to save money”.

However, she later explained that “the store had a lot of items left over so they asked the company to tell all the stores not to sell these items, we will donate them.” .

And so, she claimed that whenever people tried to buy these items, they were stopped by staff, even causing heated debates, leading to a situation where one person appeared to be “arrest or detain”.

Customers weigh in on Walmart’s situation

People were quick to respond to the woman’s statement: “As someone who works at Walmart, this happens so much it’s ridiculous. I was the cashier and I let them take it because that was the price on it.”

Some people took issue with the store, “I have an air purifier in the clear aisle of Walmart. a staff member saw it in my cart and said it had the wrong label, thanks! That’s not my problem.”

However, many say it’s not just an issue at Walmart, saying “This happened to me at Dollar Tree, where I found items for 4 cents each. They argued with me and I was not allowed to buy them.”

Walmart has not yet publicly responded to the situation.
