What happened to Roxy Mitchell in EastEnders?
Along with her sister Ronnie Mitchell, Roxy Mitchell passed away on 1 January 2017. Roxy abused drugs and regularly drank alcohol although she hoped to move to Ongar with her husband Jack Branning and their children Matthew Cotton , Ricky Mitchell and Amy. Roxy caused a scene at a New Year’s Eve party and called her mother Glenda Mitchell and half-brother Danny Mitchell to pick her up. At first, Roxy is reluctant to go to Ronnie and Jack’s wedding, but she eventually makes up with her sister and convinces her to be honest about wanting Roxy to go with them to Ongar.

The couple agrees to let Roxy join them after telling Jack the truth and they marry in front of their loved ones. Despite Roxy Mitchell passing away six years ago, Rita Simons, who played the character in EastEnders, will return. However, Roxy will not manifest as a ghost. In the next episode of the BBC series, she will be described as “a creation of her daughter Amy Mitchell’s imagination”. At the 2008 National Television Awards, Simons’s portrayal of the vivacious member of the Mitchell family earned her the title of Most Popular Newcomer.
