A trending term on TikTok has made users rethink their friendships. But what exactly are ‘neutral friends’ and why are they bad news?
Having friends helps ward off loneliness and provides companionship and support. However, there may be times when friendships are tested and conflicts arise.
According to TikToker Jordyn, who goes by ‘jordynsthoughts___’ online, it’s time you find out who your real friends are, because the people who can’t be there for you are revealing themselves to be a walking red flag.
“Neutral friend” is a term used to describe friends who avoid taking sides in conflict, all under the guise of being “peacemakers.” But Jordyn insisted that was not the case.
In a TikTok list of “five types of women” Jordyn doesn’t “hook up with,” the neutral friend came in at number four.
Describing a neutral friend as “someone in between two people who are fighting each other,” Jordyn says, “I feel like you’re really going to pretend to play the mediator when really you’re just faking it.” .”
“You have no loyalty, because you mean they don’t do anything to you personally?” she continued. “B**** if I’m your friend that means you care about me and not [going to] Be friends with someone who has wronged me.”
Viewers agreed with Jordyn’s thoughts, taking to the comments section to share their thoughts on the neutral friends.
One person said: “A neutral friend is always the biggest red flag in friendship. How do you stay friends with someone who clearly hurt me?
