A new viral filter on TikTok is said to give users an accurate depiction of the aging process… and not everyone is happy with their results.
A new trend has taken over TikTok, this time seeing users use a viral filter to predict how you could age in various decades.
This isn’t the first aging filter to grab users’ attention, with the platform’s “cool old” filter and super realistic “old” filter both previously hitting the platform.
With this latest addition, users can see how AI predicts how they will age in different stages of life using the “Time Travel” filter.
However, for those who are not satisfied with their results, we may have some bad news. According to many experts on the platform, this latest filter gives an accurate prediction of what users can expect as they age.
Dr. Keon Parsa, a facial plastics expert and “botox king,” tried the filter himself before declaring: “The anti-aging filter launched earlier this year was accurate, but this new filter is even even more suitable”.
Dermatologist Dr Toral Vaidya also praised the filter’s accuracy, saying she was “shocked” by the results. However, she notes that lighting and angles “make a big difference.”
“This is certainly not intended to discourage!” Vaidya wrote in response to a fed up viewer. “It’s more about providing some insight into age-related changes like dark spots, volume loss and wrinkles.”
To try the “Time Travel” filter yourself, complete these steps:
- Open the TikTok app.
- Tap the search field and type “time travel filter.”
- Find the correct filter – the icon shows a woman with half her face aged.
- Tap Use this effect.
- You can then select a specific year to see how you will age, or tap “auto mode” to see a cycle that shows the aging process.
