A new dating tactic has been shared on TikTok by lifestyle influencer Erika Tham, who claims that the dating technique is used to gradually reduce the effort put into a relationship.

One woman in Toronto said she has been informed of straight men using this when they date women.
Calling it “boy math,” TikTok user erikatham said one of her male friends told her about “The Penny Method.”
She said her friend explained it as similar to love bombing. “Imagine a girl as a piggy bank,” she said. To get her interest, you obviously have to give her hundred dollar bills at first.
“But printing hundred-dollar bills is hard work and you don’t always want to do it.
“So eventually you reduce it to 90. Now she will feel the effort reduced, but it’s only 10 percent so if she tries to mention it, she’ll seem crazy at the moment. this point.”
Erika said the whole thing then became “sickening” when her friend told her the next step was to “turn it back up to 95.”

“But you’re still putting in five percent less effort. Basically, you keep repeating this cycle and making her lose her efforts until you give her a penny and suddenly she’s excited to receive a penny.”
The woman said the whole incident left her ‘very scared’ as she warned the ladies to ‘be safe out there’.
TikTokers call the Penny Method “psycho” and “crazy”
Users commented on the viral video calling the ‘Penny Method’ ‘crazy’ as they said ‘just knowing and doing is psychotic’.
Another person corrected that it was not ‘boy math’ but instead ‘mental math’.
One person wrote: “What happens when you really like someone and want to spend time with them without playing around or lying?”
But others joked that people “definitely don’t think that much” as one man wrote: “It’s cute that you think we think that way.”
And some users revealed that it’s not just straight men who use it, as one wrote: “I was a victim of the money making method it was a girl who did it.”
