Get out your Coogi sweaters and Nic Cage memes, put on some Biggie Smalls, and get ready to watch the newest releases coming to Netflix this March. The following collection includes classic action and horror films, exclusively in foreign languages, anime about monsters, anime comebacks and highly anticipated documentaries in the world of sports and entertainment.
1. Biggie: I have a story to tell
Coming to Netflix: March 1
English language
The skinny: This documentary tells the story of legendary rapper Notorious BIG when he was just Christopher Wallace, with rare footage captured by his best friend Damion “D-Roc” Butler.
While the circumstances surrounding his death, and that of rap star Tupac Shakur, have been dramatized many times in film and television, this documentary is a close look at his early life. of Biggie Smalls as told by his closest friends and family.
2. Seven souls in the skull castle
Coming to Netflix: March 1
Language: Japanese (With English Subtitles)
The Skinny: Described as “a Japanese action romance in which seven spirited souls battle a dark threat growing in the dark Skull Castle,” Seven skulls in the soul castle sounds like a hoax.
You’ll see in the trailer that this is a theatrical production, but it also delivers the goods from an action-adventure standpoint (and the introductory shot of the seven is fire). If you love live-action Japanese cinema or movies about good guys and bad guys then this could be your ticket for March.
3. Pacific Rim: Blacks
Coming to Netflix: March 4
Language: English/Japanese
The skinny: Two of the most beloved genres in Japan, Kaiju (Monsters) and anime, come together on Netflix based on the Pacific Rim movies starring Idris Elba and Charlie Hunnam.
A teenage boy and his younger sister search for their parents using a giant mobile weapon called a Jaeger. Jaegers are giant robots used to fight giant sea monsters called Kaiju, which emerge from a shelf in the Pacific Rim and wreak havoc if they aren’t stopped.
4. Dealer (Part 1)
Coming to Netflix: March 10
Language: French (With English Subtitles)
Number of episodes: 10
The Skinny: This Netflix original crime series from Nicolás López and Ange Basterga is about a music director who creates a new music video by embedding a notorious drug dealer who wants to break into the rap game .
The Found-footage style story reveals the true face of the drug trade as the director becomes entangled in a bloody gang war.
5. Last Chance U: Basketball (Season 1)
Coming to Netflix: March 10
English language
Number of episodes: 8
The Skinny: A partial reboot of the critically acclaimed Emmy Award-winning documentary series about college athletes, their coaches and support staff.
Your last chance traditionally included JUCO net courts, however, the focus has now shifted to basketball coverage. The eight episodes follow the East Los Angeles College Huskies and the hardships the team faces.
6. Date Yes
Coming to Netflix: March 12
English language
The skinny: Allison (Jennifer Garner) and Carlos (Edgar Ramírez) try to fulfill their children’s every wish by saying yes. For 24 hours, their three children must make all the rules.
Yes Day seems like the perfect choice for family movie entertainment.
7. Paradise PD (Season 3)
Coming to Netflix: March 12
English language
Number of episodes: 12
The skinny: Part three of the popular animated comedy series from its creators strawberry more similar; lewd, crude, outrageous and utterly hilarious shenanigans about the world’s worst-performing Police Department.
You’ll laugh, you’ll cry (maybe vomit too), and you’ll probably feel offended. How wonderful!
8. Barbarians
Coming to Netflix: March 16
English language
The Skinny: This underrated crime action thriller from Oliver Stone (remember him?) is about two marijuana growers who take on the Mexican drug cartel and features Blake Lively at the end. Gossip Girl run.
Written by brilliant novelist Don Winslow, Barbarian fast-paced and exciting – Taylor Johnson (Kick in the ass) is excellent, but has Taylor Kitsch, John Travolta, Benicio del Toro and Selma Hayek in the cast.
This is definitely a rainy day watch and one you can happily return to if you’ve seen it before.
9. Jiu-jitsu
Coming to Netflix: March 20
Language: Cage
The Skinny: You know what you get these days from Nicolas Cage, winner of the Academy Award for Best Actor (true story). A paper-thin plot, exceptional acting, and some laugh-out-loud funny eating scenes.
According to a release from Netflix: “Nicolas Cage appears in this sci-fi epic about a group of ancient warriors who battle powerful space invaders.” The film also stars martial arts legend Tony Jaa and Frank Grillo.
This seems so bad that it’s good, or just plain bad. And I’m okay with that!
10. Monsters
Coming to Netflix: March TBD
English language
The Skinny: Three years after its release and critical acclaim at the Sundance Film Festival, Monster will be released on Netflix at the end of March.
Based on the award-winning novel by Walter Dean Myers, Monster (also called All increased – name was changed after the release of the CBS television show) tells the story of Steve Harmon, a 17-year-old honors student and aspiring filmmaker caught up in a robbery where a murder occurs. People.
The story follows Harmon’s fight to clear his name through the United States Justice system. Kelvin Harrison Jnr plays Steve, while the cast also includes John David Washington, Jennifer Ehle, Tim Blake Nelson and Jeffrey Wright.
