He said his father was an angry guy because he had a strange upbringing and he constantly tried to support it, but it was hard for him, so he took it out on whoever he could.

That being said, he noted that his parents were wonderful and that his father always put them first, but he has no idea how good they were at socializing. They were almost like co-workers. Normand told Impose Magazine that he started doing stand-up comedy in New Orleans before moving to New York. He feared that he would never be able to achieve it. Then a coworker suggested he try stand-up. His friend was doing something that night, so she went with him, but she didn’t have the courage. He got drunk and did it after a week. He mentioned thrush, he said. When asked about his parents’ reactions to his humor in an interview with Impose magazine, Normand said his parents had never talked about it with him. He thinks it would be too embarrassing for them to say, “You’re the creative one, you do what you do, even if we don’t like the joke.” He remembers producing a film in film school. In the end, he claimed that he created a movie that his mother didn’t like, which was awkward. However, he believes that they agree with his humor.

Normand had a 12-year relationship with an ex-girlfriend. They were high school sweethearts. They were both artists who moved to New York together. Normand is married to fellow comedian Mae Planert, with whom he previously had a romantic connection. They got engaged on Martha’s Vineyard in 2021 and married the following November in a private ceremony in New Orleans. They have no children so far.
