Everyone has a bad date story in their back pocket — maybe because they got up, their date lost their focus mid-sentence, or because they fell down and got embarrassed.
Of course, not everyone shares them on the Internet, but TikToker equanaaa decided to share them on October 11, because her date decided to leave while she was treating herself to some seafood .
She became known as Oyster Girl online, spawning countless memes and parodies in the short time it went viral when the Internet decided to make fun of it. However, there are some people who see both sides of the story.
What is an Oyster Girl video on TikTok?
Equanaaa may have uploaded the video to TikTok, but Twitter/X is where it went viral the most. That is reposted there by a user who was “angry” that the TikToker had exposed their favorite oyster spot in Atlanta. As of writing, that tweet has more than 25 million views.
This is just a live reupload of the TikTok, in which equanaaa explains that she’s on a date with a man and orders four batches of oysters – 48 in total. While starting to eat more, the man said he was going to the bathroom but eventually left.
The TikToker noted that she texted the man after he left and that his problem was that she was eating while he was just asking her out for a drink. However, he did offer to pay for the drinks.
Her eating 48 oysters has divided the internet, however, it’s not like she’s haunted.
“48 oysters has anyone gone crazy except on the first date? That’s wild,” one viewer said. “He literally said can we meet for a drink, then you proceeded to slurp halfway into the ocean,” another said. “I really didn’t know how I would react when our first date was filmed slurping 48 oysters with a flash. That’s another matter.”
“I see both sides. I love oysters but I can’t imagine anyone pounding them for more than 10 minutes,” one TikToker commented. “This is why guys don’t date anymore,” another added. “I really want to be on her side but I can’t get over 48 oysters,” another said. tweeted.
Some viewers questioned whether equanaaa offered to share the food or if she always intended to go solo with it. However, the only update she gave was in response to claims that she took control of the server.
