Pakistan Cricket is witnessing many changes in the coming days. The biggest change will depend on the PCB’s decision regarding Shahid Afridi. PCB has appointed Shahid Afridi as acting Chief Selector for the time being. He continued in this role until the home series against New Zealand. But now it is being reported that he is suitable for the role and the PCB is looking to extend his tenure.

Now the question is why Shahid Afridi is leading the race to become Pakistan’s chief selector. Or simply put, their becoming is also considered static. So there are many reasons behind this.

If Shahid Afridi feels suited to the role of Pakistan’s chief selector, it is mainly because of his relationship with new PCB chief Najam Shetty. Afridi became acting chief selector on the advice of Nazam Shetty and now if reports are to be believed, he wants Afridi to continue in the post.

However, our relationship is still fine. Additionally, the Pakistan Cricket Board also liked Shahid Afridi’s job as Acting Chief Selector, which was the main reason why he became the Chief Selector. Additionally, Shahid’s friendly demeanor with captain Babar Azam and other players also made him suitable for the role of chief selector.

Shahid Afridi’s decision as acting chief selector has also impressed the PCB. He gave opportunities to many players in Pakistan’s Test and ODI teams who have been on the field for many years. And, he came and performed in the team. In addition, Afridi is interested in combining experience and enthusiasm within the team. He also changed the roles of many players on the team. For him, realizing the impact of all these decisions, he was the PCB’s first choice as chief selector.
