A Twitch streamer named JapImport was permanently banned from the platform just two days after signing up as a partner due to his \u201cobnoxious username.\u201d<\/p>\n

In February 2022, Twitch announced a new update to their community guidelines, adding rules for \u201cinappropriate usernames.\u201d<\/p>\n

The new rules affect several popular streamers, including League of Legends streamer Dantes, formerly known as Doaenel at the time of the guideline change.<\/p>\n

Twitch streamer JapImport signed up as a partner on October 10 but was permanently banned two days later due to his username.<\/p>\n

Immediately after the ban, the streamer took to Twitter\/X to ask for help.<\/p>\n

\u201cNot Pog\u2026 Can someone help me? I have had this username for about 6 years and have never received any warnings,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

In the screenshot he shared on the post, it shows that Twitch suspended his channel due to having an \u201cObnoxious Username or Display Name.\u201d<\/p>\n

JapImport appealed the ban and was informed that due to the severity of the enforcement action issued against the account, they could not accept the username change.<\/p>\n

He attacked the station platform, calling the whole incident \u201ccrazy.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cOh, I don’t know what to do. I’ve heard horror stories about Twitch before but this seems so crazy that no one cares until I hit the partner, then I get insta banned with no warning\/chance to change name ,” I said.<\/p>\n

\u201c[Im] in purgatory and really not wanting to start from scratch, it seemed cruel to make me do it for seemingly no reason. If you agree to let me create a new account, why not let me change my name? I’d rather just stay fixed.\u201d<\/p>\n

In an email to JapImport, Twitch stated that he \u201cis free to create or use other accounts on [Twitch] but still in violation [Twitch\u2019s] Terms of Service or Community Guidelines may result in an indefinite suspension.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, according to Twitch’s Community Guidelines on Evading Suspension, he cannot do that.<\/p>\n

\u201cAny attempt to avoid an account suspension or chat ban by using other accounts, identities, or by appearing on another user’s account will also result in an additional enforcement action. to your account, up to indefinite suspension,\u201d it read.<\/p>\n
