Tom Petty, an American rock music superstar, died on October 4, 2017, at the age of 66. His death was caused by an involuntary drug overdose involving a fatal mixture of several drugs. He was using a mixture of fentanyl, oxycodone, temazepam, alprazolam, citalopram, acetylfentanyl and despropionylfentanyl to treat several health conditions, including a hip fracture. This combination caused multisystem organ failure, resulting in his premature death.<\/p>
