Captain Sandy Yawn isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but for Below Deck Med newcomer Jessika Asai, she’s her mentor in the cruise industry.<\/p>\n

During his many years at the helm of Below Deck Mediterranean, Captain Sandy Yawn was not exactly known for impressing crew members and viewers.<\/p>\n

Not only do fans consider her the worst captain in the BD series, but some of her former co-stars have also spoken out against her.<\/p>\n

From chief stewardess Hannah Ferrier alleging that Sandy didn’t like her from the start, to captain Lee Rosbach not returning her calls, she was in big trouble.<\/p>\n

However, there are some Below Deck members who support the yacht star, one of whom is Season 8’s Jessika Asai.<\/p>\n

Does Below Deck Med’s Jessika like Captain Sandy?<\/h2>\n

On October 24, Jessika spoke with Hawaii-based outlet Big Island Now to discuss season eight. During this time, the reality star made sure to praise her boss, Captain Sandy.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe really set the standard for women in the industry,\u201d says Jessika. I admire and am so inspired by her that I am now actually considering getting my captain’s license here in the islands.\u201d<\/p>\n

Who knows? If she actually completes her licensing and becomes a captain, we could have our hands on a Below Deck Hawaii in the coming years.<\/p>\n

For now, viewers can see Jessika shine in Season 8 of Med under the leadership of both Captain Sandy and Tumi Mhlongo. So far, she hasn’t had any on-screen disagreements with the cast or guests, which has quickly made her a fan favorite of the season. Hopefully her non-confrontational personality will continue.<\/p>\n
