A TikToker who didn’t order dessert divided the Internet after she had to wait an hour for the check at an Italian restaurant.<\/p>\n

Every country and culture has its own etiquette to follow when visiting, with unwritten rules governing the dos and don’ts of dining.<\/p>\n

Italy is no exception, proud of its rich culture, traditions and pride in the dishes the locals prepare.<\/p>\n

And \u2014 as one TikToker discovered \u2014 finishing your meal with dessert, a cappuccino or limoncello is an integral part of the dining experience.<\/p>\n

Rae, who goes by the nickname ‘raegantanon’ online, posted a now-viral TikTok while having dinner in Italy. The video shows her in a restaurant with text revealing that she waited for the check for nearly an hour:<\/p>\n

\u201c[Point of view] It’s been 57 minutes since you asked to pay in Italy and they still haven’t brought it to you because you said no dessert, no cappuccino and no limoncello.\u201d<\/p>\n

In her video caption, Rae wrote: \u201cI should have said yes to tiramisu.\u201d Having garnered over 1.8 million views, her comments section was divided over the situation.<\/p>\n

For some, such long wait times are unacceptable; \u201cThat way I will leave.\u201d Another suggested: \u201cGet up\u2026 they will give it to you.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, many people consider ending the meal with one of the options offered to be an important part of Italian dining etiquette. One viewer said: \u201cNever say no to dessert or limoncello.\u201d<\/p>\n

And one might even offer an explanation as to why it is such an integral part of the dining experience; \u201cThis happened to me and the waiter told us he wouldn’t let us leave without a drink (which was either limoncello or cappuccino)… we asked why and he said they easy to digest because Italian food has a lot of ingredients and ingredients so they don’t want you to get sick\/not come back.\u201d<\/p>\n
