A person believed to be a former McDonald’s manager shared on TikTok how the company allegedly used its app to take advantage of customers’ previous “purchasing patterns.”<\/p>\n

McDonald’s is one of the most popular fast food chains in the world. And while some headlines expose suboptimal food processing methods in rare cases, a new TikTok from a former McDonald’s chef sheds light on how the company appears to Use your app to target customers.<\/p>\n

Mike Haracz, who claims to have previously worked as a manager at the company, discussed the realities of the situation in a new TikTok video.<\/p>\n

The new TikTok, which has more than 30,000 views and is quickly climbing the platform, is an answer to a question Haracz received in which he was asked: \u201cHow does McDonald’s know how much money I have when I eat at there?”<\/p>\n

\u201cWhy do you think McDonald’s wants you to use this app for everything?” Haracz retorted before going into more detail about how the McDonald’s app can supposedly track customers and their spending.<\/p>\n

\u201cMcDonald, [through] The app can completely target you based on your buying habits,\u201d he emphasized.<\/p>\n

Haracz then added: \u201cWhatever consumer science data is used to lump different groups together in different locations, they know how much money you have, they know what you buy , they know what you like.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, he notes that it’s not just McDonald’s that does this and points out that “a lot of places do this with credit card numbers.”<\/p>\n

\u201cOnce you swipe your credit card, they know what it has ordered from them in the past,\u201d he adds, \u201cand can use that information to specifically target you or tailor your activity.\u201d their marketing and advertising efforts to ensure that what they are promoting in a particular area is tailored specifically to you.\u201d<\/p>\n

TikTok users were not at all shocked by the news, with one commenting on the video: “McDonald’s may have to share data because they use third-party software providers for analytics.”<\/p>\n

However, another person commented that, after this news, they will continue to make purchases \u201cwith cash only.\u201d<\/p>\n
