Art director Nitin Desai, 57, was found dead on Wednesday morning, allegedly by suicide. His lifeless body was found hanging at ND Studios in Karjat. This tragic event happened just days before his upcoming birthday on August 9 and the reason behind his decision is still unknown. Police are currently conducting an investigation at the studio. Nitin Desai is a renowned art director who has won four National Awards for Best Art Direction. He is admired for creating breathtaking sets in many films, including Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Devdas, Jodha Akbar and Lagaan. His work also extended to Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s 1942: A Love Story, collaborating with esteemed directors like Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Ashutosh Gowarikar, Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Rajkumar Hirani and others. The unexpected news of his death shocked many people, causing a wave of sadness and condolences on social networks. People often remember Nitin Desai as a talented and friendly professional. Filmmaker Sanjay Gupta joined others in expressing their condolences on Twitter, praising Nitin’s expertise and gentle nature on set. Nitin Desai’s expansive ND Studios in Karjat, spanning 52 acres, has been a popular location for many films and even hosted Salman Khan’s reality show, Bigg Boss. In addition to being an art director, Nitin is also involved in production and direction. He produced the film Desh Devi Maa Ashapura in 2003 and contributed to television serials. Furthermore, he also directed Marathi films like Hello Jai Hind! in 2011 and Ajintha in 2012.<\/p>\n

Directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, the film stars Anil Kapoor and Manisha Koirala in lead roles. Desai’s post celebrates the beloved love story, which also features Jackie Shroff, Anupam Kher, Danny Denzongpa and others. Notably, Desai started his film career with Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s \u201cParinda\u201d in 1989 and collaborated with the director again in \u201c1942: A Love Story\u201d in 1994. With his exceptional work In recreating the landscape of Himachal in Film City for \u201c1942: A Love Story,\u201d Desai received well-deserved awards. His efforts were recognized with the prestigious Filmfare Award for Best Art Direction, further highlighting his notable contributions to the 1994 film.<\/p>\n
